Typhoon Shanshan Relief Fund

Typhoon Shanshan made landfall as the equivalent of a Category 4 hurricane, bringing warnings for record-breaking rainfall, floods, and landslides in southwestern Japan. At least four people have lost their lives and another four million people are currently under evacuation orders.

With millions of people under evacuation orders, hundreds of thousands without power, dozens injured, and multiple lives lost, Japan is reeling from the continued impact of this devastating storm. Communities affected will need support for basic necessities in the coming days, and will be recovering for months to come.

All donations to this fund will support storm-affected communities in Japan, with a priority focus on the most disadvantaged and overlooked communities. Initially, the fund will help first responders meet survivors' immediate needs for food, fuel, clean water, medicine, and shelter. It will also support longer-term recovery efforts run by local, vetted organizations in impacted areas, particularly those working with low-income, historically underserved communities
